Annals of Anatomy

Special Issue: Anatomy in the Third Reich
Guest Editors: Sabine Hildebrandt and Christoph Redies

The issue focuses on a public symposium was held on the topic of anatomy in the Third Reich in Würzburg, Germany in October 2010. The symposium was the first meeting on this topic organized under the auspices of the Anatomische Gesellschaft, an international anatomical society founded in Germany in 1886. The present special issue of Annals of Anatomy contains the proceedings of almost all of the symposium contributions. The purpose of the symposium was to bring together specialists in this field of research, to exchange information and to initiate future research projects. The information provided at the conference and in this issue may also stimulate anatomists in Germany and Austria to study the history of their institutions.

To allow an even wider audience to access these outstanding contributions, we are pleased to announce free access to the full texts of all articles in this special issue.
